No Gimmick Match Scheduled for WWE WrestleMania 40
It’s not in the cards

The lineup for WWE WrestleMania 40 is nearing completion for the event set to unfold on Saturday, April 6th, and Sunday, April 7th, 2024, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The highly anticipated headliner of night one pits The Rock & Reigns against Cody Rhodes & World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Night two promises thrilling encounters with Reigns facing Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, and Rollins squaring off against Drew McIntyre for the World Title.

Additionally, fans can look forward to other exciting matchups, including WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley versus Becky Lynch, WWE Women’s Champion IYO SKY versus Bayley, Intercontinental Champion Gunther versus Sami Zayn, and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & Damian Priest defending their titles against DIY (Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa), Awesome Truth (The Miz & R-Truth), The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods), and two yet-to-be-announced contenders in a six-pack ladder match.

While more matches are anticipated to be unveiled, Dave Meltzer’s latest report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicates that the full lineup for both nights remains under wraps. Notably, there is no mention of an Andre the Giant Battle Royal scheduled for WrestleMania at this juncture.

Traditionally, WWE has utilized the go-home edition of SmackDown the night prior to WrestleMania, but as of now, there is no confirmation of such an event. Additionally, there is currently no Women’s Tag Team Title Match on the cards.

Meltzer’s speculation suggests that WWE may introduce an eight-man tag team match, drawing from the ongoing faction feuds witnessed on recent episodes of SmackDown. As anticipation builds, fans eagerly await further announcements and surprises for WWE WrestleMania 40.
