The Rock Reintroducing ‘Hollywood Rock’ Persona in Heel Turn, Expect Cody Crybaby Merchandise Soon

Not just will The Rock going to go full heel for his upcoming WWE show The Rock is also returning elements from one of his earlier personas to serve as a source of inspiration.

This heel-turn was placed on display last week during the WrestleMania kickoff press conference in which Cody Rhodes announced he would fight Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40.

It was expected to happen that WWE will announce The Rock vs. Reigns during the show in the event, while Rhodes was anticipated to face World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rock had previously ridiculed supporters who viewed Rhodes by calling them “Cody Crybabies.”

The Rock welcomed the fans who were turning against him after he stepped on Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in 2002, before he went away to make films and returned in 2003. He changed his look and introduced the fans as “Hollywood Rock” during his fight between himself and Hulk Hogan. He also used the gimmick to get into the feud and match against Steve Austin at WrestleMania 19 as well as a Backlash 2003 match against Goldberg.
