2024 is here. But what isn’t changed in this year’s new year is the reign of dominance for the title of WWE Intercontinental Champion by GUNTHER who had a hell of a time in 2023.

Since joining WWE the company, he has seen the right path to success, whether it’s within NXT, NXT UK, and on the main roster. When he was NXT UK Champion NXT UK Champion, he held the title for 871 consecutive days following his victory during NXT TakeOver: New York in the year 2019. The title was eventually lost to Ilja Dragunov in NXT TakeOver 36 in 2021. GUNTHER got promoted to the main roster in 2022.

GUNTHER was crowned The Intercontinental Champion by defeating Shinsuke Nakamura in June 2022. He was able to defend this title during WrestleMania 39, in an all-star match with Drew McIntyre and Sheamus. He has since defended the title against some of the best like Xavier Woods, Mustafa Ali, Bronson Reed, Tommaso Ciampa, Chad Gable, and The Miz.

He’s already broken the Honky Tonk Man’s record for 454 consecutive days, the record for the longest-running champ ever. He is now on the verge of reached a new record.

GUNTHER is joined by Pedro Morales, Ultimate Warrior, Razor Ramon, and Jeff Hardy to start and finish the year as the IC Champion.
