Gold Claimed by Matt Riddle and Nick Nemeth at NJPW New Beginning In Sapporo

NJPW held its biggest event on Friday, the style of New Beginning in Sapporo where former WWE stars Matt Riddle and Nick Nemeth (Dolph Ziggler) were in the action. Both wrestlers were dismissed by WWE because of budget cuts in September.

Riddle was awarded his NJPW World TV Title by beating Hiroshi Tanahashi. The final saw Riddle smash the BroDerek to win the title.

This was his first year with the title of NJPW World Champion on TV, bringing Tanashi’s reign after 50 days. He had previously won the title in NJPW World Wrestle Championship 18 in which he had a successful defense of his title.

Additionally, Nemeth won gold, in which he won his first IWGP Global Heavyweight Title in the main event, winning ahead of David Finlay. The winner was Nemeth make a kick that was superkick-like, which was followed by an attack on the Danger Zone (Zig Zag).

Nemeth said following the match that he’d take on anyone to defend his title. Finlay has previously was crowned the champion during a three-way fight which featured Will Ospreay and Jon Moxley at Wrestle Kingdom 18.
